Not that i took a dislike to photography at all, but i found it difficult to get time together to do the editing required to publish photos to the standard that i was after. Also, i got quite bored with doing the cookie cutter, repetitive and unimaginative "flickr format" photography. This, however, will take time to move away from for my own photography, but in any event, im seeking new direction and new motivation for keeping on snapping away. This site will no longer be a portal for critique or other such nonsense. People who crave critique are missing the point. Its not about what people think of your photos or technique, its whether your technique gets the implied meaning across. From now on, unless the discussing in the comments of my images is about the meaning or content, im going to politely ignore the comment.
On a more physical front, the canon has been retired. In its place is both the old film body (the FTb), a new old film body (canon AE1, however its not in working order at this point) and to crown it off, a new digital camera. A pentax K20D has made its way into my paws, as well as a sigma 10-20 F3.5-5.6 and a pentax 50 F1.4. All i can say is...goddam im in love with the 50mm lenses of the world. To all those that will read this and continue to take photos in their lives, do yourselves a favour. Get rid of zooms, get rid of everything over 100mm and get some primes, your photography will improve because of it. Zoom is no substitute for feet and depth of field control is worth its weight in gold. Life begins at F2.8 people!
