New Toys

Journal Entry: Tue Mar 18, 2008, 3:04 PM
Well, its more than high time for an update right!

Firstly, My photographic family has taken on quite a few new members recently, with the addition of a Canon FTb, some FD lenses and, just yesterday, a Nikon Coolscan LS-40 film scanner. Needless to day, ive been shooting a fair bit, but because its been on film, not much has made it to dA just yet. Not to fear, the Nikon is sitting beside be buzzing away as I type. Watch this space!

Secondly, in the not too distant future, Ill be entering in a Manning regional photographic competition. Because im (pretty sure) im indecisive, I need you, dear reader, to go through my gallery, and select the images you feel reflect my greatest artisitic strengths. Pcik the strongest images. Pick the pic that makes you go wow. Just bloody pick something because then youll be ahead of me!

Good to hear mate :D Im still chasing 300, although ive done it in an australian version of it. I can do it, but lately ive not had much time to get out there and do it.

As for your form - think about your bow side shoulder. Think about getting it low and think relaxed. If youre pulling left, that usually means trigger punching and or target panic (youre using a release arnt you?) and if youre pulling right, it usually means youre choking the bow or youve got bow-side arm issues. Also give some serious thought to dropping poundage...them targets dont run away! If possible, try decreasing the letoff on your bow. My next bow will be lower letoff - it helps keep the string more stable immediately under release.

So many things can go wrong!!!

Hey Scotty, I shot a 220 with 9 X's on my first indoor shoot on Tuesday. Was the first time that I shot 60 shots in one go. I usually do about 20-30 per day so my arms were hurting in the last five shots. But hey I'm gonna do better next time.

Maybe you can help me, I started pulling my shots away at the fourth & fifth arrow. Its like my arm flicks the bow when I shoot, I missed about 9 shots.

What do you reckon??:jedi:

I bet you that a black and white wins it!
That has become traditional.
Not a big fan of Interrogative. Goes well with the series, but doesn't say enough on its own. For me anyway.
Why don't you do a journal with thumbnails of your shortlist and ask your watchers. Might be an interesting exercise.

Nearby, raincoat and back out have all made the short list. Except for isnt too bad, but its not really saying much, its just nature photography and dev id2 is a bloody photo of myself, so im not doing that!

Im also seriously considering pointless marrige or interrogative, but itll be a lot of B+W...

Hi Scott
Been through your gallery looking at what I think would be excellent material for the local competition.

Unless of course you take something more brilliant in the meantime.
These ones stand the test of time, for me. Time to get over the initial impact of an image whether it be for technical or aesthetic purposes.

They all use light brilliantly. Thats the magic of photography. LIGHT!

I didnt look at the technicalities, i looked at the photo. Its deserved it. =)
